Tokyo Disney Resort – The first Disney theme park to be built outside of the United States, Tokyo Disneyland opened on April 15, 1983, and has become Japan’s most popular family destination. Owned and operated by the Oriental Land Company, Tokyo Disney Resort is home to two theme parks, including Tokyo DisneySea, which opened in 2001; four Disney-branded hotels and the Ikspiari shopping, dining and entertainment district, which opened in 2000. Known as the Kingdom of Magic and Dreams to its Japanese guests, Tokyo Disneyland is modeled after the original Disneyland Park. Tokyo Disney Resort has announced a Tokyo Disneyland development which will include a new Beauty and the Beast-inspired area in Fantasyland and a new Big Hero 6-themed attraction in Tomorrowland. Tokyo DisneySea also opened Nemo & Friends SeaRider in May 2017, and the resort is gearing up for its 35th anniversary celebration next year.
