Catherine Powell

Catherine Powell was named president of Euro Disney S.A.S in July 2016, placing her at the helm of Europe’s top tourist destination and The Walt Disney Company’s regional brand beacon. Her arrival follows a 12-year career with the company that has seen her hold various leadership positions – from Europe to Australia. 

Catherine is responsible for bringing the Disney magic to life for nearly 14 million guests annually at Disneyland Paris.  She oversees two theme parks, 59 exciting attractions, multiple shows and entertainment experiences, seven themed hotels, a 27-hole golf course and the Disney Village, a large complex of themed dining, entertainment and shopping facilities. She also leads a diverse team of 15,000 Cast Members. 

Prior to her role at Disneyland Paris, she was the managing director of The Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand.  Based in Sydney, she was responsible for driving the company’s commercial and creative strategy, coordinating and leading all company business divisions, overseeing Disney global franchises, expanding existing businesses and seeking out new business opportunities in the region.

Before that, Catherine led the Media Distribution division of The Walt Disney Company in Europe, Middle East and Africa.  She was responsible for the design and implementation of commercial strategies for the linear TV and digital media distribution of the company’s channels and content including Walt Disney Studios movies, ABC Studios series, Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior programming, ABC News programming, music, mobile apps, games and other interactive content commercialized by business to business partners across all platforms. 

She also served as Disney Media Distribution’s SVP, Sales – UK, Ireland, France, Nordic, Benelux and Israel; and prior to that, as Executive Director – Sales, UK and Ireland. 

She joined the Company in 2004 as creative director, Portfolio Development Group, where she had responsibility for its formats and local production activity, for both entertainment formats and scripted revisions of shows from ABC Studios. 

Before joining Disney, Catherine worked for BBC Worldwide for seven years, where she held various senior TV sales roles across territories including Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Germany and Spain/Portugal.

Catherine is a graduate of Oxford University where she studied PPE (Politics Philosophy Economics), and speaks English, French and German. She is a trustee of the Sydney Opera House. In 2015 she was elected a member of the Chief Executive Women in Australia, and in 2016 received the Women Worth Watching award from Profiles in Diversity Journal.
