Karl L. Holz

As president of New Vacation Operations and Disney Cruise Line, Karl Holz leads several key growth businesses for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. In this role, he oversees Disney Cruise Line, Disney Vacation Club, Adventures by Disney, Disneyland Paris and Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, inspiring teams all over the world to deliver Disney’s unrivaled brand of imagination and innovation.

At Disney Cruise Line, Holz leads a cast and crew of nearly 8,000 and is responsible for the entire operation, which includes the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy cruise ships. He also oversees Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay, and Disney’s Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal.

Under Holz’s guidance, membership in Disney Vacation Club, the company’s popular vacation-ownership program, has grown to more than 220,000 member families from nearly 100 countries. At the same time, the Disney Vacation Club portfolio has expanded to 14 themed resorts, from Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Hawaii, to properties at the Walt Disney World Resort, at Disneyland Resort and in Vero Beach, Florida and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. At Adventures by Disney, Holz has expanded the scope of experiences offered by this award -winning guided group travel business to nearly 40 itineraries in 25 countries. In addition, he oversees the team of more than 15,000 cast members at Disneyland Paris, Europe’s leading tourist destination with more than 320 million visits since its opening in 1992.  

Holz joined Disney in 1996 as vice president of Downtown Disney at the Walt Disney World Resort. He later served as vice president of Epcot, then senior vice president of Walt Disney World Operations and in 2003 was named president of Disney Cruise Line. In 2004, he moved to Paris as president and chief executive officer of Euro Disney S.A.S. In February 2009, Holz was appointed to his current position of president, New Vacation Operations and Disney Cruise Line, responsible for determining effective operating strategies for new areas that Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is exploring based on leisure trends.

Before joining Disney, Holz served as vice president of theme park operations for Knott’s Berry Farm in Southern California, and previously served as president of Sky Chefs Airport Concession Inc.

Holz, a native of Germany, earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from State University of New York at Fredonia.
